Dauphine is a well established little Bakery in the heart of Downtown Edmonton.

This place is cozy with abnormally high ceilings, they are at least 20 feet tall. The bakery is
divided with half of it set up to be a cafe with a large chalkboard displaying the philosophy behind Dauphine. The other half of the bakery is adorned with display cases filled with cookies, tortes, slices of cake, eclairs, and other pastries. The buns and breads are lined up in baskets behind these. I have never eaten a soup or sandwich here, nor any other "lunch" staple, not to say I wouldn't, but any time I come in here all the tables are filled up with eager and hungry peeps. Also, its very close to oodle noodle and I just cant resist going there to fill my hungry belly; who could resist all those oodles of noodles in a scrumptious curry sauce?

On this very special occasion (a Saturday farmers market kind of day) I visited Dauphine with my husband and son. We walked in to a bustling and very warm Dauphine after we wetted our appetites from the small array of baked goods they had displayed at the farmers market.

We bought a brownie, spice muffin, baguette, and a slice of carrot cake. Although everything was good, it was only that. Nothing I ate left me with that feeling of heavenly goodness in my tummy, on the contrary, I did not finish my brownie (!! never happens) and my carrot cake was so mediocre I forgot about it in the fridge. The baguette was the best thing we purchased that day, but it did not compare to ones I have bought at other local bakeries.

Will I come back to Dauphine? Most definitely. I'm sure there are things here I haven't tried yet that will be so irresistible to me that the mere thought of them will keep me up at night, tantalizing me....but nothing I tried here today.
