ESM Fine Cakes and Pastries

ESM Fine Cakes and Pastries
9261 34 Avenue
Monday to Wednesday 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Thursday to Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
780 477 3987

In my world, ESM Fine Cakes and Pastries is a new Bakery. I came across this place by simply using google as a search engine for Bakeries in Southeast Edmonton. I was giddy.

This place has been around for over 30 years now. The owner Mohamed claims he has recently been dealing with a family illness, thus the somewhat bare shelves (still a lot of selection though!).

These guys sell exactly what their name suggests as well as ready to eat food. Cream horns, eclairs, pastries, nut corners, brownies, mousse cups, danish, butterflys, and a selection of tortes. They have a great selection of samosas, triangles and Jamaican pattys; all in vegetarian, chicken or beef choices as well as sausage rolls. I noticed a small selection of buns and bread; white, french, baguettes and sweet buns.

Also inside the shop were European goods, such as chocolates, jams and candy. Mohamed is proud of the fact that all the baked goods that are sold in his shop are made in house, with the exception of the baklava.

I had the privelage of trying a brownie, a cream horn, all three types of samosas, and a chicken jamaican patty. We toasted the patty and samosas, as was recommended, in a toaster oven to prevent them from becoming soggy. Although they were not soggy at all, one thing they all had in common was a very dry crust.  A dipping sauce would have prevented this, but non was offered. The brownie and cream horn, although good, were not superb.

Overall, I give this place a 5 out of ten. Their ready to eat food was mediocre at best, but there are many more pastries I have to try!

Bon Ton Bakery

Bon Ton Bakery was started by a Hungarian couple back in the 1950's. In 1998 they decided to sell it to the current owners who are from South Africa. The Bakery claims that it offers customers high quality and European style baked goods. I'm not so sure about that.

Looks great, right?

So this has to be at least my tenth time inside Bon Ton Bakery and I hate to say it, but this place just doesn't jive with my taste buds. I have always tried to write positive reviews, but I just can't this one time. I find the baked goods here just terribly tasteless! The reason I've kept coming back was because I thought I had bad luck; maybe that loaf of bread was having a hard time rising, or there was a bad batch of poppy seeds, maybe someone left the pastries out over night and they all got dry... I have made excuses for this place for so long now I had to come back one more time and test one more thing.

I figured with the price of their poppy seed loaf being abnormally high it couldn't be bad, plus it is kind of hard to really mess up poppy seeds rolled with vanilla and some sugar in a bread. Right? Wrong. I was utterly disappointed for the tenth time with this place. The poppy seeds inside the loaf had no flavour, the dough around them was stale and dry, old. I really shouldn't have to butter up a slice of this stuff. It should be moist and overflowing with poppy seeds so that the next time you look in the mirror it looks like you ate dirt for lunch. I was really, really disappointed.

Some other things I have tried in the past are their cheddar loaf (lacking cheese), cookies, pastries, buns, muffins... and more. Almost everything I have bought from this place lacks flavour. It seeps B-O-R-I-N-G. They have now hired a french pastry chef and are making more delicate type pastries, but I cant be bothered to come in here again and hope that these are better. I have spent too much time feeling guilty about not liking this place and I will not be back here anytime soon. I'm sorry Bon Ton Bakery, I just dont like you!

Dauphine - Modern and chic

10129 104 Street
Sunday and Monday Closed
Tuesday to Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Friday 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
780 421 4410

Dauphine is a well established little Bakery in the heart of Downtown Edmonton.

This place is cozy with abnormally high ceilings, they are at least 20 feet tall. The bakery is
divided with half of it set up to be a cafe with a large chalkboard displaying the philosophy behind Dauphine. The other half of the bakery is adorned with display cases filled with cookies, tortes, slices of cake, eclairs, and other pastries. The buns and breads are lined up in baskets behind these. I have never eaten a soup or sandwich here, nor any other "lunch" staple, not to say I wouldn't, but any time I come in here all the tables are filled up with eager and hungry peeps. Also, its very close to oodle noodle and I just cant resist going there to fill my hungry belly; who could resist all those oodles of noodles in a scrumptious curry sauce?

On this very special occasion (a Saturday farmers market kind of day) I visited Dauphine with my husband and son. We walked in to a bustling and very warm Dauphine after we wetted our appetites from the small array of baked goods they had displayed at the farmers market.

We bought a brownie, spice muffin, baguette, and a slice of carrot cake. Although everything was good, it was only that. Nothing I ate left me with that feeling of heavenly goodness in my tummy, on the contrary, I did not finish my brownie (!! never happens) and my carrot cake was so mediocre I forgot about it in the fridge. The baguette was the best thing we purchased that day, but it did not compare to ones I have bought at other local bakeries.

Will I come back to Dauphine? Most definitely. I'm sure there are things here I haven't tried yet that will be so irresistible to me that the mere thought of them will keep me up at night, tantalizing me....but nothing I tried here today.

Italian Bakery - Downtown location

Italian Bakery
10644 97 Street
Monday to Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
780 424 4830

My next stop is the Italian Bakery, which is actually located in China Town; and no it's not Spinellis the Italian shop. This is a smaller version of the Italian shop with about three times as many baked goodies and obviously different owners, the Frattin's. I have yet to meet these wonderful people and when I do I will gladly shake their hands, hug them, and maybe more....no not really, but I am glad  for their selection of breads, buns, and pastries; it is unbelievably large and of course delicious.

On this fabulous occasion my box of goodies contained biscotti, an oreo mousse cupcake, cannelloni, an eclair, carrot cake, mini cheese pastries, and pretzel buns. The biscotti were amazing and very fresh with a wide variety to choose from; the oreo mousse cupcake was OMG good (the base was made of dark chocolate, no paper liner); the cannelloni, eclair and carrot cake were good albeit very, very sweet; the mini cheese pastries here were awesome (they usually have spinach ones too but they were sold out); and the pretzel buns were to die for. This place is great for many reasons, but one of them is that they always come out with new things for customers to try out. Out of the twenty times or so that I have been to the Italian Bakery, half of those times I have been pleasantly surprised to find new treats I had never seen here before. Their regular goodies definitely have bragging rights though: apple pie, lemon meringue pie, donuts (the jelly filled ones are a-mazing), cookies, tortes (nutella torte!), hockey pucks, cream puffs, rum balls; a very vast variety.

Not only does the Italian Bakery sell sweets, but the buns and breads also hold a special place in my heart and mouth. Pagnotta, German rye, Pumpernickel rye, dinner buns, crusty buns, are just a few of the varieties.

In addition to being a Bakery this place sells many Italian products as well as other European ones. It's a mini grocery store minus fruits and vegetables with fabulous prices.

Do I come here a lot? You bet I do. Will I keep shopping here? These guys could move to the moon and I'd rent a shuttle and fly down there; it would definitely be worth the trip.

Note: these guys have one more location; 4118 and 118 ave. This location is much smaller and has less variety than the downtown one.

Sweetheart Bakery - Chinese Bakery

Sweetheart Bakery
8111 160 avenue
Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. (Closed Tuesday)
Saturday 9 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Sunday and Holidays 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
780 457 2238

To my friend Corey. Who didn't believe in me.

Welcome to Sweetheart Bakery, a typical chinese Bakery in Edmonton. Walking in, there are small plastic showcases on both sides of the bakery where you can grab a tray and tongs, walk from showcase to showcase and pick out your goodies. Most of these goodies are buns; they have fillings such as shredded coconut, pineapple, taro, or sweet plain. Other buns have meat fillings: beef, BBQ pork, chicken curry, pizza... They also have cookies, biscuits, tarts, red bean snowballs and rice cakes, puffs, and long doughnuts; quite the selection.

In the larger showcases they sell tortes, slices of cheesecake, and a variety of pastries. Their cream puffs are unbelievably tall and very tempting, they stand about 4 inches high! They have what in my world and the french world are called petit fours, small confectionary or savoury appetizers. It is pretty much a very small version of a cake; of which there was vanilla, chocolate and coffee flavours. The cheesecake slices I mentioned don't look like they are made in house but bought from someplace like Wow Factor desserts in Sherwood Park (they sell large cheesecakes there mostly to restaurants).

No bread or plain buns are sold here.

The pastries and buns I bought today put on a good show; they all looked almost perfect. My purchases: cream puffs, chocolate and coffee petit four, mini coffee roll, ham bun and a coconut bun.

The buns were great, especially since I only paid a buck a piece for them! The coconut bun was slightly sweet with the perfect amount of coconut inside and the ham bun was a great lunchtime snack.

I have no complaints about the pastries since again, the price was right and they were tasty. Don't get me wrong, this bakery is not one of my favourites, but the place was clean and well organized, staff were friendly, prices were good, and the goodies they sell don't lack in the temptation field. I like it.

Breadland - Organic whole Grain Bakery

Breadland Organic Whole Grain Bakery
11642 104 Avenue
Monday to Saturday 8:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
780 454 5556

This was only my second time at Breadland, my first shopping experience here was a few years ago and things seemed to have changed quite a bit and for the better.

Although this Bakery is small, it has many breads to choose from: white, whole wheat, multigrain, 100% rye, spelt, gluten free and sourdough, to name a few. They had multigrain, white and gluten free buns as well as bagels. For sweets there was: poppyseed danish, cookies, turnovers, pizza type pastries, and cinnamon buns, to name a few. All the products at Breadland are made from 100% organic ingredients. Most bakeries have more products available on weekends, but not these guys, apparently the selection is pretty much the same.

I decided to purchase a 100% rye bread and a tomato, cheese, and basil pastry.

Their rye bread was very, very good. The crust was crunchy and medium thick, the inside was soft and unlike many heavy ryes I have had, not dry. Although Breadland does not make a light or medium rye this did not taste like a typical heavy rye, it tasted better. It comes with a warning though, it contains caraway seeds. There isn't a bold caraway flavour, but it is definitely there and over the years experience has taught me that people either love caraway seeds or hate them.

The pastry was like the bread, marvellous. There was a lot of flavour and the crust was soft and made using spelt flour. The small amount of oil ontop of it was perfect, the basil was fresh and the cheese was salty.... excellent.

Obviously I think this bakery is great. Although I find myself wondering how in the name of sweet poppyseed danish I have not been here more often. The place smelled of cleanliness, hard work, and good food. Watch out people, this place has become one of my top 10 in Edmonton!

Bonjour Bakery

Bonjour Bakery
8612 99 Street
Tuesday to Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Saturday 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
780 433 5924

Bonjour!!

This was only my second experience at Bonjour Bakery and it was a rather pleasant one seeing that the first time I decided to shop here the place was almost sold out. These guys have been around for a few years, albeit changing owners and names, it was previously Tree Stone Bakery. They make a wide variety of breads; country rye, whole grain, landbrot, and french baguettes to name a few. They also have croissants, bagels, and brioche. Other than that all I saw was chocolate oatmeal cookies and bran muffins.

On this visit I had decided to purchase an oatmeal cookie and a baguette. The oatmeal cookie was warm, moist, chewy and absolutely delicious. The baguette, which was made using organic whole what flour, organic rye flour and Alberta white flour was absolutely fantastic. My husband and I used it to make sandwiches using cheese and meat from a nearby deli shop and tomatoes and salad from my garden; we were in a food comma from it. We were also proud that almost everything we ate came from a local source, go us!

There's not much else to say about this bakery. It has a very small front shop, occupies a commercial space on 99 st and off whyte avenue, and parking is great (it is behind the shop). The store clerk that helped me was very friendly and informative, she let me know if I wanted to speak to the owner I could give him a call or send him an e-mail. I definitely recommend this place since the goods were great and they use local and organic flour.

Buns & Roses - Organic Wholegrain Bakery

When my sister mentioned that I should check out this bakery I thought I had never been to it before, until I pulled up and remembered that a few years ago, I had. Though my memory of it was not uber pleasant, it was not unpleasant. I remember walking in and walking out empty handed, a rarity for me. The shelves were bare and uncleaned and there was not a single customer in there.

I decided to start with a clean slate, pretending I had never been inside before. For starters the shelves were not bare and instead were filled with cookies, croissants, cinnamon buns, buns, breads, samosas, and other goodies. There was a couple sitting on some rustic leather chairs and another couple purchasing goodies. I noticed signs of "gluten free," dairy and nut free," and "baked not fried." This looked promising. There were bags of cookies on the shelves and the front of house helper seemed very informative, I eavesdropped on the conversation he was having with the customers being served.

When my turn came along to be served I decided to purchase a whole wheat cinnamon bun and a
baked samosa. The cinnamon bun, although a little dry, was packed with cinnamon and was unsweet, which I love. The samosa was mildly spicy and lacked a variety of fillings; inside were peas and potatoes. Although fresh I have to admit I was a little disappointed.

Buns and Roses caters to people with certain dietary issues; vegans, gluten free, egg and dairy free, sugar free; and they use a variety of flours. Aesthetically it could use some work and although my experience was not superb, my shopping bag was only filled with two treats and a trip to try more is a definite must.

A little explanation...

Why Bakeries?

MY LOVE FOR BAKERIES IS NOT ABNORMAL, NOT WITHIN MY STANDARDS ANYWAY. IT IS NOT AN OBSESSION, IT IS A LOVE, A CALLING; A WORLD OF SWEET BUTTER CROISSANTS AND POPPYSEED CAKES, RYE BREAD AND PLUM JAM DOUGHNUTS. THEY ARE MARVELLOUS.

Where ever in the world I travel to, I go and visit the local Bakeries. I have lists of them (those and chocolate shops....and farmers markets, but those will be different blogs!!) and I check them off as I travel through places. The things that are created there are art pieces; each one shaped differently. Deformities don't exist in bakeries because flavours co-exist with one another and mistakes create new treats. The way a baguette is shaped, its flavour with some butter or jam. The way an eclair starts to melt on your lips when you bite into it. For me, that first smell when you walk into a bakery is pure bliss.

Although I am somewhat picky when it comes to choosing pastries, the adventurous side of me tries
things that my eyes don't drool over. There are also things I loath: store bought canned fruit to make tarts or pies; fillings that come in buckets (like for lemon meringue pie); just add water brownies; these should not be sold at local bakeries.

There will be very few negative reviews as my pallet is different from everyone else's. As well, if a disgruntled employee is being rude to me it does not reflect the pastries and breads that are sold at the bakery...usually. I have been to some bakeries hundreds, literally, of times and each experience is a little different. That Kaiser bun may be a little burnt, lopsided, more or less fluffy than the last time, bigger or smaller; overall though I love that Kaiser bun and it plus other things about the Bakery have made me come back over and over again. I don't judge a Bakeries mishaps, unless it truly deserves a poor review for some awful reasons.

I thought I have been to every single Bakery in Edmonton, but please prove me wrong. My sister did today and it excited me to the outer regions of the universe. A new Bakery!

Positive or negative feedback is always welcome and appreciated. Just make sure it's always positive. Just kidding. Please enjoy my blog, I have decided to start it as a hobby and for leisure.

Portugese/Canadian Bakery

Portugese Bakery
5304 118 Avenue
Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Saturday 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
780 413 4056

Bom Dia!! Welcome to one of the Portugese/Canadian Bakeries in Edmonton.

I came across this place a couple of years ago when I needed to buy some buns for my home made hamburgers. I walked in and couldn't believe what I was seeing. Not only is it a Bakery, but it also sells imports from Portugal; canned goods, chocolates, pasta, soups, etc. It has a few fridges stuffed with salted cod, which I think is great, albeit I have only ever used it once in my cooking (boil down the fish and make it into patties with potatoes, green onions and pepper then pan fry). They also sell lunch-type food: empanadas filled with chicken, beef, or spinach; sole croquettes, basil and tomato strudel....really great if you are in a hurry and just need some smart snacking.

This is not one of the bakeries where I have tried many sweets, I come here for their buns. They do not look like a typical "Canadian" hamburger bun, but they are so much better. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, they also freeze well. I have not had a chance to try any of their breads, but just like their buns they have that same look: large and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I noticed some sweet bread the other day which will be my next buy.

Picking two pastries for this special noon-time occasion I decided to try the portugese tart, or Pastel de bata. It is an egg tart that is soft and creamy on the inside, like custard, with a flaky crust on the outside. I took some advice from my sister and warmed it up in the toaster oven for about 2 minutes. Although it was tasty, this type of treat is definantly not something I would consider eating for dessert very often, my tastebuds did not jump with joy.

Also, a coffee cake. This three hundred and twenty-five layer cake was amazing, creamy, sweet, and full of a rich coffee flavour. Other treats I noticed: turnovers, brownies, donuts, cream horns, eclairs and some cookies. Note: there are not that many layers, just a whole lot of them. Enjoy.

Bakery # 5: Vienna Bakery

Vienna Bakery
10207 63 Avenue
Tuesday to Friday 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Saturdays 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
780 489 4142

The marble cookie

A little history lesson on Vienna Bakery: Once located on the west end it was sold to Bridgett and Bernie, a couple from Germany, later they sold it to their son Brian. Brian, now the owner of the bakery, decided to bake strictly in the wholesale market. Little did he know that people would come banging on his doors in the middle of the night for him to open up a front of house for the public. People shouted, "we want your rye bread!!" and "without your poppyseed strudel I will wither and die!!" Finally, Brian listened and a couple of years ago opened a retail location once again and started to sell all the marvellous baked goods that makes Vienna Bakery one of my favourite bakeries in this city.

I can tell you about each and every pastry, bread and bun in this place. Why? I have tasted every single thing they sell here. Yes. Every single item; heavy rye, medium rye, light rye; whole wheat bread, white; Kaiser buns, German buns, rye buns, poppyseed buns; marble cookies, chocolate chip cookies; nut strudel, apple strudel......you name it. I've eaten it. Don't judge me.

This place has all types of european pastries you will be begging to come back for and the owners don't pretend to be european, they really are.

My top three favourites from Vienna Bakery: poppyseed strudel (the one made with potato dough), medium rye, and the marble cookie. Although cookies are simple, inexpensive, and very abundant, I have not been able to master the marble cookie at home. It just melts in your mouth with the right hint of cocoa and vanilla. The medium rye is to die for with some butter, or cheese and meat, or even peanut butter and hazelnut spread (toasted of course). The poppyseed strudel is an addiction of mine, made with real potatoes and so soft and succulent.....dear strudel! I could describe everything in this bakery with intense detail, but I won't and let other pallets describe the goodness only found here.....okay only one more!

The B52 torte. The old owner Bernie used to make this for me. It is a 6 layer cake of which 3 layers are cake and 3 layers are buttercream and each layer is infused with a type of alcohol: Grand Marnier, Kahlua, and Baileys. You will have to phone and ask if they still make it as I have not ordered it in about a year, but if you get a chance to try it you will not be disappointed.

Bliss Baked Goods - Kosher Bakery

Bliss Baked Goods
14208 118 Avenue
Monday to Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
780 453 0101

Bliss Baked Goods is a specialty bakery. They cator to those that have special diets, as they are nut free and dairy free. They also carry a large selection of vegan products and saving our little animal friends is always a bonus, awesome!

So lets talk about taste. One thing I have always noticed when baking without certain ingredients, like eggs or milk, is that my baked goods come out of the oven looking different, either flat or unbaked, and tasting funny, by that I simply mean they don't taste well at all. Not so with the brownie from Baked Bliss Goods, something I can easily identify judging from taste if it comes out of a box, or is made from scratch. It had a thick, rich, and chocolatey bottom and a gooey icing that although tasted heavily of icing sugar was delicious! The strawberry crumble, on the other hand, had a mediocre flavour which was too heavy for me while the strawberry filling reminded me of canned fruit, which I absolutely loath. Why can fruit!?

This bakery has plenty of other goodies; bread, rolls, cinnamon buns, all kinds of squares, donuts (it was featured in Edmonton's very own Avenue Magazine as having the best cinnamon and sugar doughnuts in 2013). The staff are friendly and the owner herself always serves the customers. She is always more than delighted to tell you about the products, the concept of the bakery, her religious background (did I mention everything in here is Kosher), and her husbands fantastic new editions to the place; soups, spreads, and dips. Although there is only about 2x6 feet of walking space, it is not exhausting and it definitely does not feel awkward to be in the spotlight. As the ladies in the background roll out dough and answer telephone calls, the smells of sugar, yeast and flour are a nice change to the fake fumes of air conditioning and the noisy background of a crying baby, oops I left the baby in the car!!.... just kidding.

Keep in mind that the hours of this bakery are not typical, they are open monday to friday and closed on the weekend.

Cedar Sweets

Cedar Sweets
10710 134 Avenue
Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Open weekends
780 479 2292

Next on my list of "Bakeries in Edmonton" is Cedar Sweets, a Bakery which supplies Edmontonians with sweet and delectable arabic and lebanese goodies.

Some of these goodies are Baklava, sweet phyllo pastries filled with either pistachios, walnuts, peanuts, or cashews. They are a goodie that is enjoyed world wide with origins in Istanbul, Turkey. Diabetics should be weary of this treat as it is usually smothered in honey or some other sweet syrup...non diabetics should also be weary as it might get your little ones to bounce out of their seat on the car ride home. Please note: parents can put this this dessert to good use to make children clean houses, cut grass and do all the dirty work.

Baklava isn't the only treat sold at Cedar sweets. There are cookies whose names I don't know of; jamaican patty look-alikes, but smothered in syrup and filled with walnuts; cream triangles, which I am told are heavenly, with the cream hand whipped in the store. I also saw wedding cakes and pastries in a different area of the shop, which I have yet to try. Don't worry, Ill be back.

This bakery is located in a strip mall next to another popular bakery of which I will only make a note of, Sunpita Bakery. Although delightful and very inexpensive, it is more of a lunch spot with pita pizzas, shwarma and halal meats. I highly recommend this spot; $5 gets you a great lunch which can be eaten on the go (just get them to fold your pizza in half). Don't worry about the police, they come here all the time too.....shhhhhhhh.

Take 5 - Donut Shop

Take 5
11801 48 Street
Open 5:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. most days
780 471 6037

The cream supreme donut.

Doesn't it look sensual? Doesn't it call out to you? Come to me, eat me; the creaminess inside, the soft dough surrounding it and just a hint of oh so sweet chocolate glaze that melts in your mouth as you give in to your guiltiest fantasy?

Well, maybe I'm just crazy, but when Tim Hortons got rid of their cream supreme donut a lot of people were miserable. Some of the dearest people in my heart cried out loud when it disappeared. "How could they get rid of their tastiest donut?!" "I am never coming here again!" It swept the nation with disaster, a true tragedy. Why truly did they get rid of it? I don't know, but what I do know is that they left a little hole in my heart that had to be filled.

This is where Take 5 comes in. The second bakery on my list. Albeit being a cafe I treat it as a bakery since I never sit down and eat here. I would rather get my donuts, run home and eat at least two of them before my husband comes home. Hey, at least I'm honest.

I am guessing Take 5 has been around for a long time because when you look inside, most of its customers are between the ages of 55 and 100. The customers come from an era where doughnuts were as poplar as milkshakes so these people know the good from the bad.

The cream supreme is one of their biggest sellers, along with its older cousin, the eclair. Others include apple and blueberry fritters, walnut crunch, and apple spice. I swear on my next batch of donuts these are irresistible.

Bakeries in and around Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

My love for Bakeries is not abnormal, not within my standards anyways. It is not an obsession, it is a love, a calling; a world of sweet butter croissants and poppyseed cakes, rye bread and plum jam doughnuts. They are marvellous.

De Fazio Gourmet
12853 52 Street
Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
780 452 8960

The first bakery on my list is one that is owned by my brother Kris and his wife Carla. A wonderful European owned Bakery with Biscotti, tortes, pastries and whatever new items they come up with (ham and cheese croissants anyone?)

This is "The Nest." Its base is a wheat free chocolate sponge cake, then its topped with rich, delicate and creamy mousse, a vanilla creme centre, a caramel crunch filling followed by more mousse and lastly a wonderful chocolate glaze. It is truly a creation worth trying.....enjoy.

http://www.btedmonton.ca/videos/3442091489001/

De Fazio Gourmet was on Breakfast Television demonstrating how the cake is made.

As a local Bakery I highly recommend trying their goods, not only because I know the owners personally, but because the ingredients they use are always fresh and of top notch quality. Callebaut chocolate anyone?
